Hi friends! I hope you are all healthy and safe. I have been really inactive on here for a while but just wanted to share a few paintings and a quick update. I finally started painting again and created this "pandemic painting". We have been staying home to avoid any exposure to the coronavirus like most everyone. I found painting has helped me feel a sense of creative purpose and fulfillment through these strange times. I would totally encourage everyone to embrace their hobby or creative outlet right now as it really does help. Sending well wishes to you all! :-)

Pregnant Again! And this time it's a boy (-;

I don't paint as much as I used to, and especially when I'm pregnant but thought I should share the latest. I am getting commissioned to do a large painting and I have 2 months to complete it so I'm very excited. I will post a picture once it is completed. Oh, and I am pregnant again! It's a boy this time, so we are excited to be able to stop after 2... if it was another girl I would want to keep going! Love being a mommy so much- it's the best experience, nothing tops motherhood. My daughter just turned 2 and my future son is due on Oct 17th. Planning on another natural birth- hope I can do it again! Wish me luck! :-O

Finally Painting Again! Yay!

November 4- 2010:

Yippee! A new painting is coming soon! It's 2 ft by 2ft in size and very cool so far. I am a little surprised it's turning out nicely since I've been out of practice for so long... but I did play it safe and stayed away from portraits, didn't want to be too ambitious! I think my next one will be a portrait of my daughter. I'm planning on doing a First Friday as soon as it's finished so I'll post details and a picture of the painting soon! Happy Holidays (-;

"Big Bertha" ***Sold***

I was asked by a friend to take a ceramic pig and paint it or do something creative with it for an upcoming art display he is arranging in downtown Phoenix showcasing several local artists ceramic piggy bank creations.... This is mine- it's a collage with clippings from various magazines, the legs are wrapped in black and whited sequins, and the handle is wrapped in ribbon....and of course I had to add a few quirky clippings amongst the floral prints (it's art...isn't it supposed to be weird?), then I sprayed it all over with several coats of shine and here it is- Big Bertha the Pig!

Was previously on display in downtown Phoenix at:

"Tuesday Afternoon"

Oil on Wood Panel
24 x 24
This was completed on June 30th and shown on the 1st Friday of July at the Long House. I named it "Tuesday Afternoon" after the Moody Blues song...I was listening to it when I painted this, amongst other songs as well- But the name seemed to fit this one best.

"The Quest for a Nest" ***Sold***

June '07

This is something I began painting with a vision, and once again it took a different turn. I visited an Art Gallery on Marshall Way in Scottsdale recently- It was a contemporary gallery that had a series of paintings on display. The artist took a canvas and divided it into sections in which he painted a different abstract scene in each. I started with that idea, but then I was looking at my "Accidentally Meant to Be" painting sitting next to me as I painted and it influenced the outcome. I typically start out with a clear picture in my head of what I want a painting to look like, but the focus always goes astray, and the outcome is completely different than what I expect, this is what makes painting exciting for me- the fact that I can't even predict myself!

"Accidentally Meant to Be"

30 x 40
Oil on Canvas
Painted in January 2005
This I painted in the "AZ Room" of my grandma's condo. I painted it shortly after purchasing "The Wilco Book", in it there are several photographs containing birds and clutter, so with listening to their music and looking at the photographs (still haven't actually read the book to this day!), the painting was born. When the painting was finished but not yet dry and still without a title, I drove to my sisters house to have my mother, who was in town visiting at the time, take photos of my new "bird/Wilco" painting for my portfolio. On my way there I got in a terrible car accident- It was on the 347 heading towards Maricopa. A car had pulled out in front of me in the middle of the highway causing me to swerve and go off the road into the ground below (the road was elevated a bit from the land surrounding it). My car was airborne and rolled 3 times. My painting was in the dirt about 30 yards away from my car. I was OK, but the painting was damaged. I had it restored then did some touch ups and the title was found- "Accidentally Meant to Be".

"Condo Clutter"

24 x 30
Oil on Canvas
Painted in Summer 2001
This painting was created in a condo I rented from the cook at the Sugar Bowl in Old Town Scottsdale- at the time I was a waitress there. The condo was 2 bedrooms, so 1 of them I used as my junk room- this is where I painted and kept all my clothes that didn't fit anymore (I used to be 30 lbs. heavier! yuck!!!), cds, records, old shoes that I couldn't quite part with yet, etc. I started creating this painting in the "junk" room by taking objects in my sight and tracing them on the canvas- in this painting there are 2 shoes, 2 cd cases, 3 cds, an acrylic sculpture, and fingers traced out, amongst other objects I just can't remember that were also lying around. I experimented with scratching, dripping, and painting with a palette knife in this also- It was a "lets try something different" painting, and I'm happy with the outcome. (-:
